To Loving and Losing: Addressing the 2024 Election Results

In this moment, as we take in the gravity of this election result, we want to acknowledge the many feelings and emotions that have been expressed by those across the country. It is in times like these that words can feel insufficient, and hope can seem elusive. The paths we have walked together, the dreams we have held close, and the fight we have fought for a fairer and more just nation are not forgotten, even in the shadow of disappointment.

To those who poured their hearts into this journey—whether through your votes, your voices, or your unyielding support—know that your efforts matter. They matter to the communities that have been lifted by your advocacy, to the people who found courage in your determination, and to a nation that continues to evolve, step by step, because of us all.

In this time of heartbreak, it is important to pause and allow ourselves to rest. Rest is not defeat; but it is a necessary pause for resilience. We need it to reflect, to heal, and to prepare for whatever comes next. As you rest and recuperate please know that you are not alone in your grief or your exhaustion, and you are not alone in wondering how we keep going from here.

As we look for a way forward, here at The Hope Campaign we began by looking back. We see the women in this country, People Of Color in this country, LGBTQ+ people in this country— and we know that we are more than a single moment in history. We are the culmination of countless acts of love, courage, and resistance that have shaped who we are and will continue to shape who we will become. We know that although hope may feel unattainable, hopelessness fuels injustice. So we grasp on to the small wins and we adjust our sails. Because we know that justice is not a straight path, and progress is not a single victory, but rather a series of steadfast steps forward.

So, when you are ready— when you have rested, we are asking you to stand up for what is right. We are asking you to use your voice. We are asking you to keep believing that a better tomorrow is possible. We are asking you to hope. For it is in our unity and our shared resolve that we find the strength to keep moving forward.

To loving and losing, to justice and hope,

The Hope Campaign
